Steering Wheels:

  • This MOMO steering wheel in our collection belonged to the French driver Jean-Marc Gounon, who had a very short career in the top flight (only two seasons). His second and final year in F1 was raced behind the wheel of a Simtek S941, a somewhat uncompetitive car and, in an unfortunate and fatal case, also poorly assembled. Jean-Marc Gounon actually replaced driver Roland Ratzenberger who had died during the qualifying session crash at the San Marino Grand Prix. It was caused by the detachment of the wing of his car that, effectively preventing its proper handling which led to the tragic outcome witnessed by drivers, journalists and spectators alike.
