Bluebird, Experimental Bicycle, 1930/40
Born to gofastonbumpyterrains, this bicycle works thanks to a series of gears that accelerate the bike.
From the up-and-down bumps the motion turns into rectilinear. There are no pedals, just footrests to press.
The more you hit bumps, the more the speed increased… The best terrain to ride on was the muletrack, full of dips, where the frequency could be kept high.
The original vehicle wasn’t put into production though since the test riders suffered some side effects like vacantstare, jumpingwithbothfeet like a kangaroo and prostateproblems for 30 days after the test.
